Happy Friday!! I am so excited about the weekend ahead! We’ve got big plans with birthday celebrations and decorating and a “tailgating” cookout on Sunday! I’m hoping we might even squeeze in a Sunday drive in the countryside! I’ve truly become obsessed with two things: spending time with family and… the countryside. We are very lucky with where we live because we live minutes away from rolling hills and horse farms and farm shops. I thought for so long that I was a “city girl” (and don’t get me wrong- sometimes it’s fun to head to the city to go to the theatre and have a candlelit dinner in a fancy dress) but the countryside… wow. Have I ever gotten bit with that bug. I was trying to think of why it is that I have become so obsessed and tried writing that into our musings this week… but I keep finding myself wanting to expand the paragraph and talk about jams from the garden and biscuits in the oven and well… yeah, I guess it’s that calm you feel when your landscape is the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen and the smells spring to life and simplicity reigns.
You’ll have to hit reply to this email and let me know what you love the most about country living because apparently I am not the only one! It brings me so much joy to hear how so many of you are embracing a country life in the city, and then there are those who live in the ‘burbs like us and are transforming your backyards into little country retreats, and a lot of you who live on large pieces of lands with orchards and barns. Country living is, to me, about a good life, about finding joys in simple things and slowing the pace of life down… and busying oneself with the tasks of the lifestyle, from gardening to baking.
So, I hope as the weekend approaches, that you find the joy of country living no matter where life has brought you! Perhaps find time for some antiquing, baking a pie, and, as always, spending time with those you love!
Happy weekend, my lovely friends! Sending warm hugs and a kiss for each cheek, xxV
