Okay can I tell you about the best Sunday we’ve had in a long time?! Because it was completely unplanned and it turned into one of those evenings I never want to forget. No anniversary. No birthday. Just an absolutely gorgeous April afternoon that basically begged us to eat outside — and honestly, who are we to argue with April?
So we refreshed the outdoor dining space, pulled out the wooden lanterns, lit ALL the candles, threw fresh white roses in a vase, and I got to work. Roasted chicken piled onto the most beautiful arugula salad, lemon bars dusted in powdered sugar, and a Limoncello spritz because spring simply requires it. And then we carried everything outside and just… stayed there. For hours. Because why would you ever go back inside?!
This is what I want for all of us this season. Not to wait for a reason to make it beautiful. Not to save the good dishes for a holiday. The candles, the flowers, the table set with actual intention — on a random Sunday in April just because the light was golden and the garden smelled incredible and the people you love were right there.
