And here we are again. What a treat it is to greet you on yet another eve of the weekend! I’ve lost count how many times we have met like this, but I must say that I am so grateful! These moments feel like stolen little moments in the midst of the comings and goings of life… like a little treasure, the most precious kind for sure! I’ve spent the last year or so truly contemplating the meaning of home and what the “dream life” would even be. I hadn’t really thought about what the best life EVER could be. I had thought long and hard about made one good, what made one pretty (and even cool and glamorous!) but a dream? That felt… selfish. Rude. Wrong even. Why should any of us feign to have a dream life?
These questions gave way to one really beautiful truth…. If we dare to believe it’s possible, it might just be achievable! And if we think it’s possible, we might actually be able to create it. The funny thing is that when I stopped to think about what a dream life would include, it wasn’t garish or bedazzled in jewels. It was simple, with something yummy baking in the oven on the weekends (a casserole? Cookies? Cinnamon rolls? Yes!) and weekdays filled with fresh produce from the garden (and potentially supplemented from the local farmer’s market. I mean, there has to be some sense of reality here, right? Haha We’d starve from my current gardening skills! Hahaha!)
But besides that, lets add a bookcase to every room, flowers in little vases from whatever is blooming in the garden, and a pair of pale white silk pjs with blue satin trim and a monogram on the pocket. Jazz music, plush sofas loaded with squishy pillows and a pup and/or a loved one to cuddle with at all times. Let’s add plenty of blankets, Persian rugs under foot, and picture frames on every surface, reminding us of a life well lived.
A cozy kitchen, everyone gathered together and loads of laughing. That sounds like a dream life… and a dream home!
So, what about you? How would you define your dream life? We literally took out a piece of paper and started writing things down and I would recommend the same to you! Once you know what you want, every decision will become clearer. Any indecisiveness you might have previously struggled with will disappear and in their place a dash of hope, optimism, and resolve will set in. You have a road map. You know where you are going.
That’s what I am sitting here thinking about as I look around the house and see the dream unfolding. I started to make tweaks, and have some bigger plans (if I am so lucky!) and I just think that more than ever, the little moments in life, whether it’s a good cuddle on the sofa, a great book in hand, something yummy to nibble on while, or just the the sounds of birds and laughter… that’s the really good stuff, isn’t it? Any of it. All of it!
So, with the weekend ahead, I wish you days full of the good stuff. Whatever it is that makes you smile, that makes your heart flip flop, and makes you want to skip and sing… I hope plenty of THAT finds its way to you!
Sending the warmest hugs and a kiss for each cheek! xxV
