Musings on the Modern Antiquarian

Well, hello and Happy Friday!!  Eekkk!!  It’s the FINAL days before Halloween, or as I like to think of it… the Eve of Christmas decorating!  I was already imagining the cobwebs coming off the porch and stepping into a magical world of Christmas!  This year just seems extra special.  We’ve been adding a few new details to the house and it has made the house feel so magical!  The problem?  I hadn’t given a single thought to our bedroom.  It’s just been sitting there kind of in auto pilot and Jack was ready to add a tree!  (He’s in there right now fluffing it.  Gotta love a man who can’t wait to put up a Christmas tree!  LOL!). But then I needed to figure out what on earth I was going to do with it.  The word, “antiquarian” kept popping into my mind.  Something worn, sweet, soft, yet nerdy in a bookish sort of way and filled with warm neutrals.  (I don’t think I could ever go back to sleeping in red in the bedroom, but what about you?!). Either way, I’m excited to go start rummaging through the ornament bins and find all of our browns and champagne tones and create a magical Christmas overlay!  The etched glass ornaments are ALWAYS my favorites!!  I’ll be grabbing the brown fur blanket (so decadent!) and the brown jammies (hurry! h&m finally restocked!!) and a cute set of bronze reindeer (an amazon find!) just to take the look over the top!  YAY!!!  I especially love the chinoiserie art we found (a very affordable find!). I need to hunt down some old books and I’m now dreaming of a French empire nightstand and tufted leather bench…. 

But, for now, it’s off to grab a book and get a good night’s sleep so we can wake up ready to decorate!  (Haha yeah right.  I’ll be up all night decorating, won’t I?  Yep!)  I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t squeeze in some late night decorating!)
