Our Fall bedroom is done! I gave myself a brief before I started and it was this: cozy, classic, modern, and full of those organic elements I’ve been loving lately. All of it. In one room. Because why choose?
I always start with the bed. The boucle is cozy and decadent and timeless and the curviness is just right! Then let’s layer on scalloped velvet reversible bedding, silky bamboo sheets, a quilt, a wool blanket, and the fur throw at the foot. Then let’s add the pillows — a black one in the center to tie back to the dressers and the art, caramel velvet on either side, and the embroidered ikat I brought home from Nantucket this ago.
After that, it’s all the little things. I love bringing in deep pumpkin and caramel tones through the frames (personal photos are everything for a cozy room!) Why not add vintage books and a marble bowl I still can’t stop touching? Let’s add those in, too! Don’t forget the faux stems that look unbelievably real, especially when added to a rustic textured vase (the more the merrier!) I also love adding sticks and pine cones from our own front yard…..I’m obsessed with these natural touches!
The final secret to the coziest room ever? Lighting. It may actually be the most important part! Think low light, like floor lamps behind the planters, table lamps to light the middle section of the room and art lights and a dimmed chandelier to complete the effect. The entire room is designed around the life we actually want to live in the room- morning coffees in bed, evenings watching 90’s rom coms, snuggles with Louis with a good book.
