If hopping on a plane and heading to the Copenhagen Botanical Gardens was cheap, we’d probably all be doing it this weekend. Thankfully, most large cities have their own Botanical Gardens and I think you will find them to be quite inspiring. My mom taught me to pay attention to the plants and see how the gardeners put them together. You can also check to see what goes well in the sun or the shade. Not that I’m trying to suggest that genius runs in the bloodline, but my mom also suggests going to the Botanical Gardens to see what changes color during the fall and what blooms that right shade of pink in the Spring. (Winter will give the telltale sign of what can survive the cold in your area!)
Other great things about the Botanical Gardens? Most have seasonal garden items and gift ideas for the avid gardener for the upcoming holidays. My personal favorite, though, is the family photo shoot potential a greenhouse offers in the cold winter months. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve tried to do a family photo shoot in the cold. Everyone ends up cold, cranky, and with scrunched up faces. Probably not the look you are going for?
Here is our last visit to the Copenhagen Botanicals Gardens… Perhaps it will inspire your own visit, or at the very least, bring a bit of warmth to your weekend!
