I’m typing this from GREECE and I genuinely cannot wait until we’re home to talk about it. This isn’t the full post—that’s coming, and it’s going to be so good—but I had to give you a little preview because I am completely undone over here.
I’ve been inspired by so many things on this trip. I truly have so much to share but for now, let me just say this……I’ve found so much inspiration for the Modern Organic home. The photo above is of the rocks near our home in Crete. I’m literally speechless, these are the colors of our home and they’re here in the earth….where they’ve been forever. Stone in every shade of taupe and slate and warm sand, sitting in the sun for who knows how many hundreds of years. That’s the texture we’ve all been chasing, and it wasn’t designed—it was just built, and time did the rest.
(here are a few pieces I’m freaking over!!!)
Now I’m sitting in our living room in the Crete home and look around me. Soft plaster walls. A linen sofa you sink right into. Black and cream stripes, dark clay vessels, warm brass, cool stone underfoot. It’s every single thing I’ve been talking about and they’re literally living it here!
That’s the part that’s really getting me. This style isn’t a trend at all. It’s how people have made homes here forever. The rough against the smooth, the ancient against the modern, the whole thing wrapped in a grounded warmth that makes you feel so at home.
So here’s a tiny taste of the pieces this trip is inspiring—my early favorites, while the feeling is still fresh.
Full post when we’re home. Until then, I’m going to grab an iced coffee and stare at some pottery (and definitely buy some more!)
Sending hugs and a kiss for each cheek! xxV
