You Will Hate or Envy Her After Reading This… Maybe Both.

May 15, 2018 · In: Interior design

Roswell Townhome | House of Valentina-3.jpg

Love her or hate her?  It’s a question you will battle with the moment I tell you… this homeowner has only lived here TWO WEEKS.  I know.  You don’t believe me.  You are contemplating calling me a liar.  I hear ya.  But it’s completely true.

This tour has given me more questions than answers.  Like Why haven’t I put more on my walls?  And why have I taken so long to settle into my house?  Why don’t I CLEAN up more?  And then, of course, the most burning question…how long does it take most people to settle into their new home?

I used to have everything set up within days of moving in.  I blamed it on the frequency of our moves (23 in 17 years will make you hurry up or GIVE up!).  But our latest house has taken FOREVER.  18 months in and I’m still decorating and rearranging.  It probably didn’t help that we sold off most of our possessions and had to start over… again.

This Roswell townhome is extra special because my client, who has quickly become a dear friend, sold her townhouse (remember the place with 20 offers and 6 backup offers?) And now two weeks later she’s already made this new home so amazing I can hardly believe it!

It’s also really fun to see how so many of the same things looks COMPLETELY different with a light backdrop and new bedding!

How long did it take for you to decorate your place?  Or are you still working on it?

Lovely home! I would love to have her as a friend!

As to "unpacking" it does help if you tell the movers where to place the furniture vs. trying to save money by having them quickly "dump it anywhere just keep moving." It also helps if you don’t have to paint the salmon walls, too, like we are now doing. And plastering over the salmon-esque 12" x 12" foyer tiles. And painting all of the builder-grade doors black, and puttying up all the dog teeth (I hope that’s what made them) marks on the door jambs. Not to mention not being motivated to putting on paint clothes when going out to do something fun is more appealing. As it stands, the LR/DR area is a jumble mess, we’ve never lived like this before, but this is our 3rd move in a year and a half (we flipped a condo). So yeah, we’re entitled to do things at a less-than-frantic pace. At least that’s our story, and we’re sticking to it!

I love that! There’s definitely no right or wrong timing for moving in, especially if you have projects. That’s probably what’s taken us so long! Once the floors and kitchen are done it will really start to feel like ours!

Valentina, thank you so much for taking these lovely photos of my new home. Interior design is a passion of mine but not my profession. It’s truly a labor or love for me and maybe I missed my calling but I do get pleasure out of creating my space and knowing that it was my design and ideas that make me happy to come home to after a long day at the office. I truly love every aspect of my new home and without your commitment to making my dreams come true, I would not be here. I thank you for that!
