Every year between Christmas and New Year’s, I carve out a few days to relax, recharge, and dream up what I want for the year ahead. There’s no set plan—I just find myself cozy on the couch in my favorite pajamas, a steaming cup of coffee in hand, surrounded by a stack of books. It feels a little like Harry Potter when the Sorting Hat decides which house you’re in—except in my case, the books seem to choose me! I wander through my shelves, and the ones that spark my curiosity practically leap into my hands.
These aren’t just any books, though. I look for ones that push me to think differently, to see things in a new light. Some of them are old favorites, books I’ve loved for years, but when they land in my year-end pile, it’s time to rediscover them with fresh eyes.
This year, I’m feeling a deep pull to weave more romance into the modern—both inside my home and in the garden. I want spaces that feel layered, textured, and timeless, with that touch of magic that makes your heart skip a beat.
Designing a home isn’t a “one and done” thing. Life evolves, and our spaces can evolve with it. For me, books are where it all begins—they spark ideas, challenge my perspective, and help me reimagine what’s possible in my own home. It’s a tradition I look forward to every year, and it never fails to inspire something new and beautiful. Check out my favorites below!
