My Top Tips for Styling Sneakers

Have you ever struggled with wanting to be comfortable while simultaneously wanting to look stylish and chic? I completely understand the struggle and I found the solution! If you know me you know that I love my high heels. As a former dancer I love the way my foot feels in a heel. I even wear them at home when no one is around (that’s right, I truly dress for myself!). But we all know that there are times when a heel is the wrong shoe to wear for a myriad of reasons.

Whether you’re going to a kid’s soccer practice, a day running errands or an afternoon exploring the city (or the countryside) sneakers can definitely be the better choice for the day. The struggle comes with how to style the sneakers up. Here are a few simple tips (and examples) to help you look amazing in these stylish sneakers.

Choose the right pair. There are so many different types of sneakers out there and it’s important to choose the right one. The ones that I choose for my wardrobe aren’t the same ones that I would wear to the gym or for a run. There are so many options that are both stylish and comfortable. I’ve linked my faves below!
Pair them with skirts, dresses and pants. One of my most effective styling tips is to create juxtaposition between styles. Athleisure is fine for the gym or maybe around the house but if you want to take up your sneaker game combine them with something a bit dressier. The grace and elegance of the clothing plays really well against the casual feel of the sneakers.

3. Choose classic colors. I definitely have a love for a 2-3 color design aesthetic in both home and fashion and this continues with my sneakers! The key to wearing sneakers in a stylish, chic way is to let the sneaker style speak for itself. If a shoe has lots of colors or patterns, it loses the classic feel and can actually distract from the overall look of the outfit. I stick with shoes that have 2 colors or 2-3 shades of the same color.
