Happy Friday! What a day it has been! We literally stood in the clouds today! We are spending the weekend in Tennessee and drove through the Great Smokey Mountain national park… if you have not been here, I must insist that you add it to your bucket list! It is like being inside the finest painting the world could ever paint for us!
A light mist rolled in just as we entered and as we drove past the rushing stream, a baby bear cub dashed out in front of us and then only moments later we saw an enormous elk bathing in the stream without a care in the ! Then as we began to drove up the winding roads, which were all surrounded in wild, untouched forest , the clouds rolled in and we soon found ourselves pulling over just so we could stand in the clouds.
It was like entering a fantasy! The fragrance of a dense hardwood forest below and the spruce and fir mountain ridge above was intoxicating! We rode with the windows down, with a hand out just to feel the clouds passing through them. Wildflowers grew unfettered on craggy rocks and along the twists and bends and it was like entering a world of pure magic.
We will be up here for a couple days, and cannot wait to share more from this beautiful little corner of the world! It’s times like these that I feel that wildness that I have felt so many times when an adventure is upon us and some new discovery awaits.
I can’t think of a better way to start the summer officially. The kids are all out of school and I cannot wait for all the adventures to come, whether they are far away or as close as our own backyard!
Summer is a time to be free and a little wild, and taste the adventure!
