Happy Friday!! Guys, I’m so excited! The weekend awaits and the sun is shining and the summer heat has kicked in and it feels FABULOUS! We have a plane to catch… to GREECE!! Omggg! I know it must seem so silly but one of my favorite parts of traveling is the time just sitting in the airport and then on the plane. I used to dread it (because, as you might imagine, I have quite a lot of energy and sitting is not conducive to such zest for life) but I realized that those moments when the internet may or may not work and a random movie is playing on the seat back (one that I have never watched and will probably never watch again!) there’s something else that always happens… perspective. Forced to sit still for a moment, I always find a bit of soul searching occurs and with that a fresh take on life. Somehow I always walk away feeling renewed and full of peace up in the clouds, where the busyness of the planet is far below and it’s just us and the sky.
I found myself, even just this morning as I started to think about what fun awaited, how much we overlook the little things. I know it must seem so silly, but I found myself pulling out my makeup and just really looking at it, taking pictures, and feeling an overwhelming sense of joy. People say all the time that it’s the little things in life that bring us joy- and they are so right to remind us of the time we have with the ones we love, a wonderful meal even if it isn’t anything fancy, a good book, the sun on our faces… but I would go a little further and encourage you to consider the little things you fill your life with.
A few years ago, I started to curate the little things I bought like my makeup, my bags, the little bowls and trinkets I fill my coffee table with… even the vessel my candle came in! Some people call that bringing your “brand” into alignment… but this isn’t really about a business. It’s about YOU! Don’t underestimate the power of opening a silverware drawer and seeing flatware you truly love or having a stack of books that not only look beautiful but inspire greatness in you. Your lingerie drawer, your face soap, even your bath towels… all the little things become great things when they make us feel at home in our space and in our own skin.
Hahaha I always get so deep and introspective in these wee hours of Friday mornings when I have yet to go to bed and the house gets a bit quiet. But I would encourage you to consider all the little things that fill your life… do they need to be curated? Perhaps a drawer organizer and a fresh set of matching pens will inspire you at your desk… or a new pair of shorts will feel empowering. Is it time for a fragrance that leaves you feeling inspired?
However you choose to spend these next few days ahead, I hope they are filled with lots of sunshine, happy memories… and maybe a little time just for yourself… and, if I may be so bold, perhaps a glass of champagne and a bite or two or three of chocolates and a bit of a rest. Adulting is a lot of work, so don’t forget to save some room just for you!
Love you all so much and hope we will see you live on amazon before we head to Greece and then we will see you again from Greece! We can’t wait to share from what has quickly begun to feel like a little home away from home! A kiss for each cheek and a big hug! xxV
