It started with a coach bag. My sister dropped by to check out all the new handbags I had just received and we were ogling over the new burgundy shade in the Soft Empire 28. Magic. Then we noticed that her lipstick was a perfect match to the bag and then suddenly I couldn’t resist the pull of this gorgeous shade. So deep, so rich, so decadent. I HAD to have it! And now I have brought all my burgundy sweaters to the front of my closet and my burgundy blazers and ball caps, too. The burgundy obsession is BACK.
I feel like I’ve had an awakening. I spritzed myself with Prada Paradox, slipped into my silk nightgown and found myself crawling into bed and ordering burgundy boxes filled with handmade truffles neatly tucked into their little squares. I then proceeded to order burgundy wrapping paper and burgundy velvet ribbons for the holidays (and no, I have no shame whatsoever about ordering it all in September! It sold out last year!)
I love how a color can boost us, pull us forward even when we didn’t even know we needed it. Burgundy inspires, ignites, and somehow feels comforting. It’s chic, sophisticated, and apparently there’s going to be a lot more of it at Chez Valentina!
So, as we zoom into the weekend, my goal is to find my burgundy marble tray, add cheese, grapes, pretty little crackers and crystal glasses filled with burgundy wine and make a point to celebrate the little discoveries in life that excite our souls!
