The roses are all blooming this week and their fragrance is literally lingering in the air. It may actually be my favorite event of the entire year. If you are… shall we call it… botanically baffled… then you know that even just the fact that the roses survived another year feels like an absolute miracle. But then again, Spring always feels like a miracle to me. It feels so utterly supernatural!
I woke up this morning with an agenda a mile long, and completely delayed everything on my list to go buy more flowers and herbs and planters and a cake plate… (and no, I didn’t need another cake plate, but I have just as much fun planning which cake to make as I do which vessel it will be served on!). This weekend I have my light and airy pound cake on my list of musts. We got our first strawberry on our plant this week and even though it had a little nibble taken out of it, and therefore unanimously rendered inedible, the grocery store was quite helpful in rectifying our loss! So, strawberries, champagne, and pound cake has become almost my singular focus… I will eat lettuce and nothing else if necessary just to justify an extra large slice and a dollop of whipped topping!
I’ve also decided to completely rearrange my entire house… yes. You read correctly. It started with the kitchen aaaaand pretty much spread to the rest of the house. Jack checked my pulse and for fever… because I was removing as much of the black as I could… clearly an act of treason against my own soul! But Spring does that to us, doesn’t it? Even if we put our laundry in the dryer rather than the line, we crave fresh linens, fruits from the garden, and white, white, white. And maybe a little bit more white. It just feels right. Don’t you agree?
What is on your agenda for the weekend? However you choose to spend it, I hope it is full of love and joy and cuddles and white linens and cake and even maybe a bit of champagne! A kiss for each cheek and the warmest of hugs! xxV
