“You want to do what?!” That was the look I got from my mom and friend recently while viewing a home that was in need of new windows. I had just mentioned that I thought black windows and doors would be incredible and they clearly were not on board. I sheepishly added quickly that they would look nice white as well, but it got me thinking about how some renovations might seem like a great idea in our heads, but what if they are too far outside the box for most people? Homes sit on the market all the time that have been renovated to someone’s particular tastes, which unfortunately clash with the majority of buyers.
When it comes to interior design I really like to push the limits. We hope to buy a house soon and when we do, I would love to go further than I ever could while renting, but is there a limit? Is wallpaper really a good idea? What about that trending tile? Suddenly those design ideas translate into expenses later and definitely need more than a little consideration.
When you are contemplating high dollar choices, such as windows and paint, that could really affect your potential to sell your home later, take time and do your research.
What do you think? Would you buy a home with black windows and doors?
Here are a few of my favorites that show why I think black windows and doors are a safe option for the Atlanta market:

I definitely love the homes you have chosen to showcase the black windows and doors. I live in the Atlanta area so to answer your question, “Would you buy a house with black windows and doors?’, I say, it depends on the house. Obviously Atlanta style is becoming more progressive and many of the lofts and downtown apartments could easily carry this design. As you get a little further out into the suburbs, it seems that the homes become more and more “conscious” of the old south flavor. Can you find any examples of the southern farmhouse style with black doors and windows? I love the look and would be curious to see it on a traditionally southern home.

I totally agree about the city being able to handle the modern and the transitional. Here is a link to a Southern Living farmhouse that is super traditional but I think looks amazing with black windows. What do you think of it? https://dk.pinterest.com/pin/76209418674320368/

I’m not sure what I think of the black windows on this style home. I think that it is more suited to the metropolitan home but I also think it could grow on me. I will dig for more. I’m all for thinking outside the box!
