Easy Ways to add Coastal Style to Your Home

May 31, 2023 · In: Interior Design

Summer is here (anyone else marveling at how quickly it arrived?!) I don’t know about you, but around this time every year I get an itching to put some beachy/coastal items into my home to signal the beginning of a new season! There’s just something about the combination of summer and the sea that is irrevocably intoxicating! The smells of salt water and coconut, the soft fabrics, the rattan and wicker….we love it all! Whether you live near the beach or not, adding coastal style to your home can create a serene and relaxed atmosphere and a little feeling of escapism.

Here are a few of my favorite items that bring in the coastal style. Check out the YouTube video if you want to see the whole list!

Woven Baskets: Invest in beautiful, handcrafted woven baskets to add texture and functionality to your space. These baskets can be used to store blankets, toys, or any other items, while adding a touch of bohemian elegance.

Rattan Tray: Add a rattan tray to your home decor for a practical and coastal touch. Use it to carry refreshments for al fresco dining or as a decorative element on your coffee table or bathroom countertop.

CLICK TO SHOP

Coastal-Inspired Books: Display books that showcase coastal living, such as “Mediterranean Living” that capture the essence of Mediterranean style. These books provide inspiration and a visual escape to beautiful coastal destinations.

Sculptural pieces: Choose pieces with unique shapes and textures that resemble seashells, sea urchins, or lava stones. These statement pieces can be displayed on their own or used to hold smaller vases with fresh or artificial coastal-inspired greenery.

Coastal Fragrances: Fill your home with coastal scents like ocean breeze, sea salt, or coconut. Use scented candles, diffusers, or room sprays to enhance the coastal ambiance and evoke the feeling of being by the sea.

Natural Materials: Embrace natural materials like jute, sisal, or bamboo in your rugs, lampshades, or window treatments. These materials provide texture, warmth and interest to any space.
