House Blend:: Stark Black and White

When you are trying to figure out your personal style it can be pretty daunting.  Each one of us has a unique blend of styles, influenced wildly by where we live or have lived, where we have traveled to or hope to travel to, whether we live in the city or the countryside, what we like to read, where we like to shop, etc.

Through this series, House Blend, I hope to show you many, many different combinations of styles.  Perhaps one in particular will strike a cord with you and will spark a new interiors project (you can always send me an e-mail if you would like a little extra help) but what I hope most of all is that each of you will find a little piece of inspiration and encouragement to discover the ever-evolving you!

There are few combinations that are easier to use than stark black and white, though the majority of people have a tough time sticking to it.  It’s sexy, graphic, bold, and oftentimes minimalistic, but a stark black and white combination can also be warmed up with texture, lighting, and even flowers, so if this color combination really appeals to you, don’t be afraid of it.  My home is fairly monochromatic and I absolutely love it!
