Have you ever noticed yourself veering towards one color? I’ve been craving the color blue lately. I bought a blazer, more jeans, a denim shirt, a blue vase for my mom… and then I started to wonder. Am I depressed? Isn’t that what a blue phase symbolizes? Or is this just an American thing? Americans seem to do blue a lot more than Europeans… an observation that I cannot verify with hard facts but feel my experience will give me enough clout to convince you.
When I bought a navy blue polka dot skirt, I really started to panic. What is wrong with me?? Maybe I’m not taking this move back to America very well. Maybe I lost all sense of my personal style over the Atlantic.
Just short of huddling in a corner, wrapping my arms around my body and rubbing vigorously in search of comfort and understanding, I googled the meaning of blue.
Here is what I found:
“Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body.”
Whew! Not only am I not depressed or craaazy (said with my best Olaf imitation)… I’m rock solid. Stable. Deep. That’s me for sure… because the Color Wheel Pro told me so and if the Color Wheel Pro says I’m ok, then clearly I must be a breath away from leaping into the day with rainbows overhead and unicorns serenading me as I dance with elves…
Want to join my blue obsession? I promise you don’t have to be depressed or American… Sane, though? That is optional.
