3 Easy ways to create a home that is ICONIC!

June 23, 2024 · In: Interior Design

If you want a home that is bold, daring, dramatic, and memorable, you’ve come to the right place! No matter what your budget is, you can create an iconic home, a home that stands out. Iconic homes aren’t about a certain budget or even size but instead are designed in a way that represent and stand for something. These homes have feeling, they move you and leave an impression. Here are five very practical tips to help you create a home that is truly iconic.

1. Sculptural Pieces

Sculptural pieces are a must for adding visual interest to your home. I use these in virtually every room in my home. These pieces can be visually loud or quiet, but either way, they add a unique touch to a room. You can incorporate sculptural pieces through accessories, lamps, or even the furniture itself. The key is to include items that stand out and make a statement, helping your space to break away from the norm.

  • Accessories: Look for unique vases, bowls, or abstract sculptures.
  • Lamps: Choose lamps with interesting bases or shades.
  • Furniture: Opt for chairs, tables, or shelves with unconventional shapes or designs.

2. Dramatic Art

Art is an incredible way to bring a bit (or a lot) of drama to a space. I love to choose art that is bold, graphic, and modern for my rooms. Size is also a great way to add drama; think larger pieces or multiple smaller pieces that create a faux large piece.

  • Bold Choices: Go for artworks with striking colors or dramatic themes.
  • Graphic Elements: Incorporate pieces with strong lines or patterns.
  • Size Matters: Large-scale art can dominate a space in the best way, or create a gallery wall with smaller pieces to mimic a larger artwork.

3. Color Palette

The color palette is the key to creating a cohesive design and also helps streamline the decision-making process. For my home, I chose black and white with neutral accents. This helps to create a space that your eye moves across easily and keeps the focus on the iconic items that I’ve styled up.

  • Black and White: A timeless combination that adds sophistication.
  • Neutral Accents: Incorporate shades of beige, gray, or taupe to soften the look.
  • Consistency: Keep your palette consistent throughout your home to create a harmonious flow.

Everyone is coming home for Easter this year and all I can think about is everyone gathered around the table for a gorgeous brunch and loads of treats and lots of catching up! So I wanted to create an Easter tablescaoe that is comfortable, relaxed, and brimming with herbs & bulbs from the garden and lots of bunnies and blue florals! I even got a beautiful scalloped edge tablecloth in a blue pinstripe that just seems to pull it all together!

What do you think?!

What are your plans this year for Easter?! There’s always a seat at our table! 🐰🤍
