Spring just does something to you, doesn’t it? One minute you’re perfectly fine and the next you’re absolutely desperate to twirl in a sundress, get your hands in the garden dirt, bake something beautiful, find the coziest chair in the house with a stack of books, and completely rearrange your life. I don’t make the rules. Spring makes the rules.
And this year? This Spring feels different. Bigger somehow. More intentional.
I’ve been having a bit of an epiphany — the quiet kind that sneaks up on you while you’re standing in your kitchen or walking through a garden center — and it’s this: I want our home to tell our story. The real story. The beautiful, layered, lived-in, deeply loved story of our family.
Two of our kids have moved out. (I know. I KNOW.) The garden is getting a complete refresh. And somewhere between all of that growing and changing and letting go, I turned to Jack and said — I want a home the kids always want to come back to. I want our actual dream home.
I think of it the way a film director thinks about a set. Every detail, every texture, every color choice is either telling the story or it isn’t. So I’ve been asking myself: does the inside of our home go with the outside? Does it go with us?
This Spring, the answer is becoming clearer. I’m craving something lighter. Softer. More romantic. I’m dreaming in florals, linen, and blue — oh, the blue! Not as a replacement for anything, but as a whole new addition to my neutral palette. Think powder blue Le Creuset. Think embroidered pillows that feel heirloom. Think bouclé chairs and cashmere throws in the softest slate. Think faux dogwood branches and Aerin Illay Jasmine floating through the rooms like a spring breeze actually moved through the house.
Think: this is exactly where I want to be.
So here it is — my Spring wish list. Some of it is for the home, some of it is for me, and honestly, all of it is for the story we’re writing together. I hope it inspires a little dreaming on your end too, because that’s the best part of a new season — the permission to imagine something even more beautiful than before.
Sending warm hugs and a kiss for each cheek! xxV
