I am working with a client here in Atlanta who happens to love a balance of light, darkness, and shades of indigo. She just naturally gets that black and blue totally go together. The old days of not wearing white after Labor Day (Is that an American tradition only?) and never mixing black with brown or blue with black are over. They are the perfect compliment to each other and this home is proof of that.
I was showing my husband, Jack, this home a few minutes ago and he asked a question that I get asked all the time. Can you create something like this in America? And can you do it in suburbia? The answer is absolutely yes! The key is to paint the walls in shades of matte grey, white or black. Add white linen curtains to the windows (preferable without blinds if at all possible) and consider adding small details like window seats to mimic the radiators while keeping the lines simple within each room. Take a look around and I’ll post a few more links below for anyone interested.

This Home was created on a budget and yours can be, too! Here are a few Items you want to consider:
Linen Cushions with Plush Down Fillers make a room feel comfortable.
A Modern and Extendable Dining Table Will Take you a long way!
A Great Task Lamp Is Always a Classic piece.
Go for a Modern Wood Chair for the dining room.
A great planter with succulents, herbs, or a mini tree add life to any space!

That is a great question about how to bring this kind of style to suburbia. Why not? Sounds gorgeous. I think it would be a smash hit as suburban homes take note and diversify in design. Helping to transform a typical pre-fab into something more?! That would be awesome Tina!! Please do show us the way. : )
