Eeek! Guys! It’s FriYay and we are having the best week ever!! It’s Jack’s and Landon’s birthday week and Hailey, Parker, and Marco all came home to surprise them for their big day (they practically share a birthday!). We were talking about how Landon was born 17 years ago in Spain. We were living in Africa at the time and had driven our car onto a ferry, sailed across the Strait of Gibraltar and welcomed him into the world in a little hospital on the Mediterranean. I remember looking at him for the first time, and, as we do as moms, looking him over and counting his fingers and toes and marveling at his existence… it was surreal then and it still is now! Watching him grow up across continents, filling up his passport while his picture was still of a tiny baby who we had to prop up just a couple days after he was born so we could actually go home with him… it’s been wild! He’s absolutely loved so many of the places we’ve been but there’s no place he loves more than his home here in Atlanta. I remember the first time we came home after getting the keys and just watching him run from room to room… and doing carpet angels (a habit that has stuck ever since with our family when we get a new rug!). For him, America was the greatest adventure he’d ever experienced- I mean you should have seen these guys the first time they saw a sprinkler… and a squirrel! Hahaha
We’ve got our show releasing on Amazon this coming week (Thursday, October 9th at 8pm est!) and I’m just sitting here in awe of where life has brought us, the incredible friends we have met along the way (obviously including all of you!). 17 years ago we were sitting in a hospital room holding this tiny little human and now here we are. Life is a funny thing, isn’t it? We dreamed of coming back to America, renovating our own home while we helped others do the same. I dreamt of a tv show and here it is. I’m in awe of life. Of humanity, of dreams, of the greatness in each of us, the goodness that exists, and I sitting here and I can barely put words together.
I’m just in awe.
So, as we go into another weekend I can’t wait to live it up! We’ve got pumpkins on the porch, cake on the counter, Halloween decor waiting to go up and I can’t wait to share it all with you! I hope you have such fun plans (obviously in addition to hanging out with us because we love that so much!) perhaps a bubble bath, a walk with the fall leaves crunching underneath your feet, a cuddle on the couch… so many wonderful possibilities! Sending so much love! xxV
