I’ve never jumped off a cliff before. I consider myself to be a calculated risk taker. And somehow cliffs never factored in to that. But last year we took the leap of a lifetime and rather than plunging into a new foreign adventure, which was our norm, we landed in the US. Jobless, homeless, and completely lost.
The descent into our new life felt nothing short of terrifying.
I’ve always believed that there was a spiritual connection between our design choices. ( Not to get all deep and hokey on you.) This proclamation has always freaked some of you out. I know because you write in to tell me. Somehow you think a messy house equals a chaotic life. (It usually means that you are choosing quality time over perfection. I could never argue with that!)
What I mean is that we tend to gravitate towards the things that fit our mood, our passions, our interests, our determination, and so much more. We are deep, people. Really deep. And complex.
I love glitz and glam, but lately, all I gravitate towards are things that are natural, raw, minimalistic, and have some sort of connection to the past if possible. There seems to be some force pushing me towards those things that I sense are real.
Either that or the dive off the cliff left me saying a prayer and hoping I could catch a branch before we hit the bottom. Clearly the first option sounds much more appealing. Perhaps we should just stick with that one.
Whether you have plunged into a new endeavor or you have always felt a need to connect with nature, I know that I am not alone in my longing for raw simplicity. Here’s what I’ve discovered around the online design world lately:
