Five Steps to a Luxury Hotel Bed At Home

March 1, 2023 · In: Interior Design, Shopping Guides

We all know the feeling. You check into your hotel room, collapse onto the bed, and think to yourself “ahhh…now THIS is what I’m talking about.” The sheets are soft, the mattress is comfortable, and you can just feel the relaxation seeping into your bones. But why does it have to end there? Why not bring that feeling home with you?

Well, good news… You can! With just a few simple steps, you can turn your bedroom at home into a luxury hotel suite. All you need is a nice mattress, some good sheets, some comfy pillows, and a cozy comforter. Let’s get started!

Step One: Get Yourself a Nice Mattress
This is probably the most important step. After all, what’s the point of having nice sheets if your mattress is lumpy and uncomfortable? One of our favorites is the Mint mattress by Tuft & Needle. We have a few of these in our home and everyone loves sleeping on these. Not only are they incredibly comfortable, with a perfect combination of support and “cushiness” but they also keep you cool while you sleep.

Step Two: Find Some Good Sheets
Now that you’ve got yourself a nice mattress, it’s time to find some good sheets because ultimately, an amazing set of sheets will COMPLETELY change the way you sleep! They are right against your skin so choosing an amazing set of sheets is MUY IMPORTANTE, as they say. 🙂

This step is actually easier than it sounds because I have several favorites that you can choose from. We have several sets from Boll & Branch and they are all amazing. I especially love the Triple Framed, the Color Blocked and the Reserve sheets. Once you’ve found some good sheets, it’s time to move on to step three.

SHOP THE STORY

Step Three: Get Some Comfy Pillows
This step is admittedly subjective. Some people like their pillows soft while others prefer them firm and it depends on how you sleep as to which pillow will be best. Personally, I always choose down because I love the feel and the way the support my neck at night. Of course a good down alternative is always a good choice as well, but tap the pillow below for several options based off your sleep position!

Step Four: Find a Cozy Duvet
A key part of getting that hotel bed look is good, clean, white linens and this includes a duvet. We only use duvets in our home and love the fact that we can each customize the inserts to both personal taste and the season. If you sleep hot then chose the light weight or mid weight insert. If you sleep cold (like I do) the ultra weight is perfect. It keeps me from having to piles tons of blankets on at night! And once you’ve found the perfect duvet for your bed…you’re almost done! Just one more step to go…

Step Five: Add Some Decorative Pillows
This final step is entirely optional but definitely worth considering if you want your bed to look extra lux! Decorative pillows are such an easy way to add a touch of elegance and sophistication to any bedding ensemble and it’s fun to switch them up depending on the seasons to help your space feel fresh and new! I’m currently loving the velvet pillows from West Elm because they keep their shape well and add a level of sophistication to the bed.

So there you have it! These five simple steps will help transform your bedroom into a luxury hotel suite. You deserve a space that makes you feel pampered and a bit spoiled. Getting a good night’s sleep will truly transform your life, so we believe it is well worth investing in!
