When we helped Dr.Pharris purchase this home a few months ago this home was in a deperate need for an update. The kitchen had good bones and the cabinets were in good shape but the blue walls and stained island time stamped this space to the 90’s. Dr. Pharris is a few years out of med school and was ready to make his first home, his own space. The challenge to all of this, the budget. It’s a fairly large home and he wanted to upgrade everything to match the new space. So not only did we have design obstacles to overcome we also needed to furnish and style the space.
Our first goal was to repaint the space. We chose White Dove by Benjamin Moore for both the kitchen and breakfast room. We left the cabinets and trim painted as they are. The island was the second big change that we needed to make. The original stain color was dated and clashed with the stain of the hard woods. Instead of sanding and re-staining we painted the island Stormy Sky by Benjamin Moore. This makeover was extreme in design but pretty easy on the budget and the client absolutely loved it!
