People fall in love with finished products all the time. If a house is perfectly move in ready, it sells fast. Not everyone has the vision for taking a 5 acre lot, even if it is situated on the banks of the Chattahoochee River on the northern outskirts of Atlanta, and transforming it into one of the most magical gardens on the planet.
Thankfully, the McWilliamses had the vision 24 years ago when they found their gravel road and wooded lot. Carole puts it perfectly:
“‘It could be called an obsession; but Jim says it’s just a hobby if it doesn’t require a doctor,'”
It can be hard when you are shopping for just the right home or you want to create something special with what you have, to envision what could be. But if this property is any testament, start with a pea gravel path that meanders and pretty soon you will be on your way!
These photos and quotes are originally posted with Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle.
Beyond pea gravel, consider a few containers to get your garden started.
Birding supplies will bring nature to you.
Every garden should start with a $2 pack of seeds!
My absolute FAVORITE gardening inspiration book: Gardenista. Amazing!
If you want Interior Inspiration with flowers and/or flower related design, you need a copy of Bloom: Creating and Living with Flowers and/or a copy of Botanical Style
And if you wonder what to do with the dried flowers, you have to get a copy of In Detail. (One of my all time favorites. Ever.)
