Come on in, Ya’ll! Welcome to our Spiffer Upper!
So, here we are. Right in the middle, not in the city and not in the country, but in… the suburbs.
Gulp. How did we end up in No Man’s Land?
When we got back from Copenhagen we needed a place to land and to register our kids for school. The first thing we did was choose their schools. We searched for the highest rated schools we could find and rented an apartment there. We took another four months to re- familiarize ourselves with the area (we are from Atlanta!), get the kids started in school, and house hunt.
The kids fell in LOVE with their schools, their new activities, and their friends. So, our first priority became keeping them in their school district.
When we chose our spiffer-upper the main criteria we hoped to satisfy was: open and spacious rooms, budget for personalization, abundant light, and a backyard for soccer playing and gardening. Would we have loved old hardwood floors and craftsmen style details?
Yes, but we can add character. And we can’t wait to show you how!
With our closing date coming in less than two weeks (if everything goes without a hitch!) we will be making over this lovely spiffer upper which is currently owned by a lovely elderly couple who has quite an eye for asian art and luxurious antiques…

Oh, how lovely ❤️ I hope everything sorts out for you. I don’t know how it functions over there, but I cross my fingers for you.Preeety nice master bath room. It looks like its bigger than our living room

The photo definitely makes the bathroom look bigger, but right now it has carpet. I won’t want to go in there without my shoes on until we replace the flooring! LOL!

It looks like you have made a great housing choice. I look forward to seeing the process of how you make the place “your own”. It is so much larger than your previous abode, and I hope your precious family maintains its’ closeness in such a big space.
Yes, it’s quite big, though in real life it feels very life size. I’m sure we will use every bit of it! Can’t wait to share more!

How exciting, and how beautiful your place is and will be. After years of cramped quarters you’ll be rambling around for a while I imagine. I look forward to watching you turn the place into your own with all your amazing details and unique touches. Best of luck
Thank you! We are quite excited, especially after living these last six months in a very cramped apartment! 🙂
