It’s no secret that we love strong, fierce, talented women around the House of Valentina. Today is International Women’s Day and I’m thrilled to share about a woman that I have admired and respected for years, Greta Grossman. I’m thrilled to have her cobra sconces in our kitchen and recently added her Cobra floor lamp to our home as well.
Greta Magnusson Grossman revolutionized the interior design industry in the 20th century. With her strong appreciation for architecture, industrial design, and modern aesthetics, she brought Scandinavian artistry to life with creations like the Cobra Table Lamp and Gräshoppa Floor Lamp that were admired by Hollywood’s elite such as Ingrid Bergman, Greta Garbo and Frank Sinatra.
Her work gained international recognition with pieces being exhibited at esteemed museums including The National Museum of Stockholm & MoMA – a true testament to her pioneering vision!
At a time when very few women were recognized for their design work, Greta had the courage to pursue her passions and I have found her example to be such an encouragement to me over the years! I hope to be an example to my own children and my friends, family, and colleagues that we should all pursue our dreams and passions and I love that we have a community firmly planted in that strength and vision!
