I keep looking at it… the living room. It’s decked out in red this year which was never my intention. It’s my sister’s fault and the internet… two powerful influences in my daily life who keep feeding me the color… RED! While decorating my sister’s home for the holidays last week I couldn’t help but feel this unexpected surge of happiness, merriment, and joy. Something about it just felt so good! I had used up almost every single thing I owned in red to do her house, so I did what every mom does- poll her kids to find out if I should order more red for our house, too. The response was unanimous and even Jack chimed in that he absolutely loved it. The garlands, according to Jack, are the most beautiful thing he has ever seen… which of course makes me feel a bit shy, but secretly… I love to hear it.
It has made me wonder if next we will be exploring more color in the otherwise neutral world of the House of Valentina (ok, honestly, the house is almost colorless!)… I feel panicked and thrilled all at the same moment! Haha! What if I don’t like it? What if others don’t like it? And then what if I love it? And what if others love it? You would think for a girl who lived in foreign countries for 12 years that I would be an unimpeded risk taker, but the truth is… I tremble at it. I fret through it. And then I do it anyways. So, I guess we have our answer! Which means that by spring there will be blue showing up next… and then who knows where we will go from there?! Gasp!
The thing I keep thinking is… “I think I’m just getting started.” And “I’m going to see where this leads me!”
As a chronic fretter, I encourage you to embrace new possibilities, even now at the holidays. It’s a great time to try something new, especially if it brings you a burst of joy. Life is short not to take a leap and see what waits on the other side… she says while sitting at her desk writing her kindreds spirits around the world in her red tartan pussy bow blouse. :-).
With the weekend ahead, the biggest question lingering in my mind is… should we keep going and deck out the other rooms as well?! Hahaha! I hope you are enjoying every minute of this festive season, finding plenty of time to sparkle, and celebrate! I wish you joy and love and even a bit of fun (or loads if I have anything to say about it!). A big hug and a kiss for each cheek! xxV
