Our gardenias have been blooming this week and the herbs in our kitchen garden are suddenly spilling over their planters! Oh, and the tomatoes? I’m totally going to have to replant them as they shoot a full foot above the window sill! These warm days spent outdoors, reveling in the enchantment of fresh cut grass and lazy blooms in little glasses on the nightstand remind me of how much joy there is in the little pleasures of life.
We’ve been soaking up the evenings, listening to the melodic croaking of the bull frogs croaking and the kids laughing while they play croquet. This weekend, besides some gardening, we plan to fire up the outdoor pizza oven, scrub up the lanterns, and even do a little Father’s Day shopping (because of course we love to treat our guys to a little something that says thank you!)

Our summer vacation is a few weeks away so this weekend I’m going to plan out the outfits for our trip to Italy! This summer we’re entertaining like never before. I want to take in every moment that I can and enjoy family and friends. I absolutely love using lanterns in the summer time and my style is modern, classic with a touch of elegance. These are perfect for entertaining because they literally “illuminate” the evening and they help create that unforgettable summer ambiance!
This weekend we also need some down time. Whether you’ve been working in the garden all day, packing suitcases for a trip or running errands it’s so easy to have a wonderful spa day at home. I usually light a candle, fill the tub with a yummy fragrance, turn on an episode of Poirot, drink a little champagne and, of course, relax! I pretty much love everything that the White Company makes and their spa collection is perfect for at home pampering! It smells divine!
I’ve been a daydreamer my whole life. As a child I would get lost in daydreams and my imagination. This is still one of my favorite things to do and one of my best ways to relax. Now that summer is here I’m going to take some time this weekend to daydream about the ideal outdoor space, how to entertain friends on these warm, enchanting evenings and how to spend more time with the family on long afternoons.
Last year I bought Jack an outdoor pizza oven and we absolutely love it. Jack loves it because he turns on some music, grabs a cocktail and gets to cook outdoors. We all love it because we can each customize our own pizza and make whatever we want! Either way it’s a great thing to do as a family this weekend!
