Real estate and politics don’t always intersect in conversation, but lately that has been an exception. The buzz around town has been that the luxury market always slows a bit around election time as buyers and sellers wait it out. While I can’t say whether it’s the election or not, I can definitely confirm that, according to market research in the Atlanta area, it has been a buyer’s market lately for homes $600k+ while below that we have been in a seller’s market.
Our mortgage broker also advised us to lock in our interest rate before the election. Could interest rates go up? Maybe, but at the moment they are very low and it’s a great time to buy a house!
So, where does that leave real estate and politics? After months of banter and debates, we are the ones who are in control of our destiny. It’s time to vote your convictions!
After you vote, take a peek into the Obama White House with rooms designed by Michael S. Smith. These photos are featured in the December issue of Architectural Digest.
