With temps plummeting for so many of us, staying warm has never been so top of mind!
Personally, my favorite way to warm the heart, the mind, and the soul is COFFEE! Is there anything more comforting and inviting than hearing those seven magical words, “I am going to make a coffee!”? For me, they rank right up there with my kids saying “I love you, mom!”, my husband whispering “I love you, sweetie,” and our furry friend Louis barking his enthusiastic “Ruff ruff!” ok, maybe that’s going a little too far, but coffee is kind of sacred in our house. It’s a ritual that feels like a warm hug and marks the true beginning of every day. (and a break in the afternoon!)
In our home, the morning coffee ritual is a vital part of our everyday life. It’s not just about getting that caffeine fix; it’s a simple yet profound way to show ourselves a bit of self-love.
The Coffee Lover’s Ritual
For me, there’s no coffee quite like a latte or cappuccino from my Nespresso machine. The process begins with selecting one of my favorite coffee pods (I’m currently obsessed with the Hazelnut pod but vanilla is my go-to!) I always steam Vanilla Almond milk in the frother attached to the machine and magic is made! Between us….the frothed milk is my favorite part of this process because it is like eating marshmallows in my coffee!
Choosing the cup I will drink my coffee out of is almost as sacred as the coffee itself. It really changes the entire experience! Lately, I’ve been loving the more formal mugs from Ginori or H&M, they not only come with a saucer but are adorned with the Greek key (always a welcome design element!)
Jack, on the other hand, is a fan of the timeless French press. Every Sunday he grinds the beans for the week so he’s ready for the days ahead. He adds two scoops of coffee in the press, adds the water and four minutes later he simply presses the top down and his coffee is ready to pour! He’s currently enjoying his coffee in a gorgeous matte black mug. We have a couple sets- some from Mexico that we begged the hotel to let us buy a couple and then another set from amazon!
Whether you’re a Nespresso enthusiast like me or prefer the French press like Jack, one thing’s for sure – the joy of that morning cup of coffee is universal! It’s our daily dose of comfort, self-indulgence, and a warm start to whatever the day may bring. How do you enjoy your coffee ritual?
