“Normality is a paved road: it’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it.”
Van Gogh said that over 100 years ago. We can spend our lives trying to fit in, but isn’t it so much better to stand out? I feel like I’m paving my own road in 2026, something that feels simultaneously exhilarating and terrifying. The thing I know about myself is that I’ve been terrified to do a great many things in life, but when I believe in them? I just do them anyways.
As we hit our third week of resolutions, most have already been abandoned, but the ones that we are still thinking about are the ones that really hit a cord, aren’t they? Maybe it’s time to pivot, to get up and walk away from something, run towards something else, to be daring and bold… It’s never too late to believe in your wildest possibilities and to live in your greatness. I hate to break it to you, but if you have already broken a resolution (or didn’t even bother making them this time) it really doesn’t matter. Life isn’t always a straight line. We think we have the tools to face our obstacles, but instead find ourselves stumbling over them.
But what if we just look down for a minute, see the stumbling block, and smash it. Maybe next time we won’t trip over it so hard or maybe not even at all. Progress is progress. One decision counts. If you are meant to walk a road less traveled, stop being surprised that it’s hard. Every day you practice being strong, you are becoming stronger. You may not see the results overnight, but they are there… and pretty soon you will.
Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither were you. So, let’s run together, let’s take the road less traveled. Let’s be daring and bold and feel the wind in our hair again. Let’s believe in ourselves and each other. Let’s live with abandon and see where the unpaved road leads!
With the weekend ahead, I hope you find time for yourself, for your dreams, and also a bit of rest! Sending warm hugs and a kiss for each cheek… Your friend, always. V
