“Skinny Jeans are going out” some fashion blog proclaimed a few weeks ago. My daughter was reading the article and I snorted and exclaimed melodramatically with a fist raised towards the sky that I would wear them til I die. My sister-in-law, who happened to be visiting with us, snorted and said very matter of factly, “Good thing I never bought a pair” and pulled her leg up to show her wide legged boot cut jean.
Modern trends are like skinny jeans. Some of us love them. Some of us are just waiting for the next trend.
First, if you don’t like a trend, don’t follow it. It’s ok to let a few go by. If you like what you’ve got, there’s no reason to rip it out and replace it just because everyone else is.
But, if you happen to want a little change, even your traditional home might like a pair of skinny jeans. Here are some modern trends you may want to consider no matter your style!
Painted Doors:: This blue is so striking!
Gold Accents:: What was out is back. Will it be here to stay?
Dark Walnut Floors:: Rustic and distressed may be moving in, but walnut is still a best seller.
Color from base board to ceiling. I was just talking about this!
Pops of color in neutral settings.
Vintage. Surely this isn’t a trend?
Gold knobs. Yep, they really are back.
Gold toned lighting to match the knobs.
Blue cabinets.
Wood Paneling.
Marble around the fireplace
Wallpaper. It’s back!
Colorful Walls
Lots of white.
Black Rooms.
See any trends you like? Any you definitely want to skip?
