I’m absolutely thrilled to share this room transformation with you today, it’s been a long time in the making. This room has been my home office since we moved into this house seven years ago. The previous homeowners had designated it as a formal dining room, but due to our family’s evolving needs, it has served as a dual-purpose space with an office alongside a dining option most of the time.
The journey of redesigning this room began a few months ago when I started thinking about hosting Christmas meals in a more formal setting. It sparked a creative shift in my thinking, leading to the fantastic new look I’m about to reveal.
At the heart of this design lies an absolutely stunning black oak table from RH (I’ve also included a similar option from Arhaus below). Given the limited floor space due to my desk and the substantial shagreen cabinet, I needed dining chairs that could easily slide beneath the table, making them both practical and visually striking. These chairs from Arhaus not only fulfill this functional requirement but also boast an eye-catching design feature – they swivel!
We bid farewell to the trusty Pottery Barn sofa that had graced this room for years, replacing it with a chic bar cart. This clever choice not only opens up the space but also allows for a seamless connection to the kitchen, adding a delightful surprise factor. The room’s entire ambiance is grounded by a beautiful Zebra area rug I discovered on Amazon.
In the spirit of the holiday season, I’ve adorned the room with not one, but two Christmas trees! 🎄🎄 Additionally, a splendid garland adorns the mirror (which I shared in a previous post), and I’ve set up a gorgeous Christmas tablescape that’s perfect for hosting during this festive time (check out the details in my dedicated post).
I can’t wait to hear what you think of this exciting room transformation! (click below to watch a room tour of the entire space)
