I’m about to blow your gardening mind… Ready? Did you know that many landscape artists recommend planting in the fall rather than the spring? What??!! I can admit that I am a total novice when it comes to the garden. I blame wanderlust and my undeniable need to avoid putting roots into any one place.
But lately, I’ve been dreaming of having a garden. My mind drifts to it in the quiet moments in the evening hours after the kids have gone to bed and there is suddenly a void of noise and activity.
When we lived in Morocco we had a yard that was filled with olive, palm, and lemon trees and an ancient fig tree that brimmed with fruit that was warmed by the heat of the summer days. The patio was covered by a lushly covered arbor and there was a door tucked into the side of the garden that led to a real live secret garden. Oh, the days that we spent dreaming of creating a little escape there, but, as luck would have it, we moved away before we could realize that dream.
Then our garden in Denmark had a white picket fence with roses growing through the rails and I loved how quaint and charming that felt.
So, now, after all these years spent roaming the planet, we are finally contemplating buying a home and I’ve realized that my garden has a lot to live up to… especially since I need to add low maintenance to the wish list!
I’ve rounded up my Top 10 Favorite White Gardens because I hope that you might share a passion for gardens brimming with charm. Some of them are a bit extravagant while others have some really great low maintenance ideas hiding in them (I love the gardens with rock paths in them!) Several styles are represented as well, but they share the fact that each show how incredible a green and white garden can be!
