Prior to the 1990’s most of us lived our lives in blissful ignorance of a coffee storm that was brewing (pun painfully intended) and gave little thought to ordering a coffee. It was either black or taken with a little bit of sugar and milk. Some of our exotic friends would have the audacity to appear overly well traveled and scoff at the lack of cappuccinos in the average establishment. Then this little company called Starbucks hit California and robbed us of countless hours of our lives that would now be spent ordering long winded, complicated drinks that we could no longer live without. Oh, the horror. To further the insult, we all got to look like idiots when we ordered “a coffee” and were informed that we could no longer order a small which would now and forever more be called a tall and we had decide if we wanted whip, no whip, nonfat, extra fat, skinny, grande, venti, or worse yet, iced. You mean I’m drinking this thing cold now, too?
When I saw this super cool flat located in Sweden, my first thought was, “Gasp! I think this home is a Starbuck’s order! And not just any ‘ol plain jane frapuccino, but my husband’s infamous, death defying drink order that makes the entire family cringe with it’s demands.” He saunters up to the counter, barely maintaining his composure as his preferred gate would involve skipping and clapping, and with a practiced casual ease rattles off, “I’ll have a grande mocha with one pump vanilla, one pump white chocolate, nonfat (really? why bother?), no whip with an extra shot of espresso.” Shaken not stirred.
The nerve of this man!
And yet… Now, I am left wondering… what would my favorite Starbucks drink look like if it were a home? Or better yet… what about yours?
