Do you ever wake up and find yourself wondering, ‘Where am I?’ That’s exactly how I felt when I stepped into my updated bedroom this week. I firmly believe that the bedroom should be a sanctuary that rejuvenates, comforts, and prepares you for the day ahead. Our lives are filled with hustle, bustle, and chaos, making it all the more important to have a place where you can take a deep breath, slow down your racing heart, and savor moments of peace and tranquility. After all, the bedroom is the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing you see at night—it’s a space that deserves both your time and investment.
During this makeover, I introduced some significant changes, with one notable exception that might surprise many. I decided not to return to a darker color for two reasons: firstly, I enjoy exploring new design directions rather than repeating past choices, and secondly, I had fallen in love with the existing color. Despite initially testing several dark paint samples on the walls, I ultimately chose to build upon the foundation of this color.
The most prominent updates in this transformation occurred both high and low in the room. Up high, we replaced the light fixture with one that fills the upper space more effectively. Down low, we swapped out the rug for a softer and slightly larger one, a change that had a significant impact on the room’s overall feel—something that delights me to no end!
As the holiday season is right around the corner, I also introduced some key Christmas elements to infuse a sense of seasonal warmth into the room. The potted faux tree (for a tutorial, check out the YouTube video), enchanting twinkle lights, decorative orbs, garlands, and wreaths all contributed to creating a festive ambiance with a wonderfully relaxed vibe. I’ve included a selection of my favorite items below, and for the full list, be sure to click on the YouTube video link!
