She sneaks in, does she not. Fridays, that is! The weeks go by in a blur, especially when Summer arrives and days are spent outdoors and carefree! Summer is such a glorious time of year… and this year has been especially special to us as we watch our little efforts in our garden bloom more than ever. I’ve gone from being a serial plant killer to someone who watches roses bloom again and again. A repeat bloomer. Isn’t that such a wonderful sentiment? The very idea that we can bloom again and again. Gosh. I really just love that!
I’ve been thinking a lot about gardening because we are still finalizing a plan to renovate our back deck and yard and I’ve spent so much time searching for inspiration in every style, including the humble garden with earthen pots and gravel paths and little handmade twigs for trellises to grand modern designs that are clean and manicured… I find myself mulling and mulling. I love them all! How can I have them all when they seem to exist in worlds all their own?! And yet a plan is formulating and the designs are being drawn up and it’s got me more excited than ever…
But in the meantime, I cannot help but marvel at the juicy green figs starting to form on the tree we planted a few years ago. I ran around and called everyone to come look at the little zucchini growing in our planter. I keep telling everyone to rub the mint between their fingers and breathe it in while all one has to do is simply brush up against the thyme and the rosemary to release its fragrance. Who know the garden could bring so much joy?! I simply marvel at it. I’m in awe!
They say that being outside improves our health dramatically- it boosts our mood, fills us with energy, and soothes us, but my favorite part is the lingering feeling of hope it gives. Watching the world around us bloom reminds us that we should do the same.
I’m dying to know what your weekend plans are! Are you traveling, spending time by the pool, gardening, planning an outdoor soiree?
We are excited to have our girl and our pup, Louis, come home to celebrate Father’s Day with us! I’m thinking burgers on the grill and a mean game of corn hole! We take our lawn games very seriously around here! Haha!
However you choose to spend your weekend, I wish you so much joy and love! Sending a hug and a kiss for each cheek! xxV
