This week Fall arrived!!! I have loved summer this year but there’s something magical about the transition from Summer to Fall and I’m all in!! Fall is the perfect time to decorate a home because Fall is all about COZY!!! I’m not one to go OVER the top when it comes to pumpkins or faux fall leaves on the tables but I definitely go OVER the top when it comes to the cozy factor.
Fall is my season and cozy is my vibe! Here’s how you can easily bring warmth and depth to any room this season with a few of my favorite fall styling routines.
Bring in the texture
Fall is all about creating that warm, inviting atmosphere we all crave as the temperatures drop. One of the simplest ways to bring that cozy vibe into your home is by playing with textures. Seriously, just look at that gorgeous blanket, it’s perfect for cuddling up with a cup of coffee and a stack of magazines. I also love swapping out lighter fabrics for richer, more textured materials. Think velvet throw pillows, chunky knit blankets, and boucle pillows—these pieces add a serious cozy factor to any room.
Add a scent
Scents play a huge role in creating the ambience of a space. Since smell is so closely tied to memory and emotion, the right fragrance can completely set the mood. For Fall, I love to fill my home with warm, woodsy, and cozy scents that instantly make everything feel more inviting. Here are a few of my favorites!
Add a rug
A rug instantly adds comfort, especially when it’s a new one in soft, neutral tones. Rugs do more than just anchor a room—they bring warmth to the floor, making any space feel cozier and more inviting. Plus, they’re as practical as they are stylish, giving your room that perfect touch of warmth. These are a few I own and love!
Create vignettes
When I design a space, I’m always on the lookout for chances to create little “moments”—those special corners or spaces that catch your eye and invite you to linger. One of the easiest ways to achieve this is by styling vignettes. Think trays, candles, found objects, design books—anything that combines aesthetic beauty with a touch of personality. It’s all about styling those perfect, thoughtful details that make a space feel uniquely yours. Here’s what I’m decorating with right now!
Update the lighting
Fall lighting is all about layering. We hardly ever use the overhead lights—instead, we create layers from the ground up. We start with uplights in key areas, then add table lamps, floor lamps, and art lights to take the lighting from floor to ceiling. Mix in a few candles, and you’ve got a space that’s cozy, calming, and full of warmth. I’m dreaming of that travertine table lamp (OMG it’s from TARGET!!), but the rest you probably recognize from my own home (and many of my clients’!)
