Last year we set out with my sister and her family to find their dream home on a lake. They wanted a vacation home that they could make their own, a place for the family to gather year after year. Georgia is home to some truly beautiful lakes and after an exhaustive search we found a home on the beautiful Lake Hartwell. The idea may have been a dream but the house was far from it. The home was time stamped from the 90’s and desperately needed updating.
The first priority was updating the color palette of these large spaces. In the grand salon we painted the walls Hematite , the ceiling Polar Bear and the windows Cracked Pepper all from Behr. In the dining room we painted the walls Greyhound, the ceiling and trim Polar Bear and the doors and windows Cracked Pepper. The floors were different surfaces throughout the space so we removed all of these and installed a beautiful White Oak flooring in a Pineapple color from Nydree Flooring. Once this was all done it was time to focus on the furnishings.
The renovations to the home took a lot of our budget so when it came time to furnish the spaces we had to work within a budget. We used Article for the majority of the large furniture for all three spaces. They’re pieces are modern and clean and we loved the contrast with the traditional elements of the home itself. The artwork is a mix of custom pieces from Valentina and modern art from Desenio. This combination creates a space that maintains it’s historical feel and also feels modern and approachable. This is exactly what the client was hoping for.
