“We need to upgrade this bathroom!” These are the words I heard from Valentina the other day. Our half bathroom is one of those spots that lingers in plain sight but has somehow escaped our attention. Sitting in the heart of our home, it had been part of our ground-floor overhaul a few years back. Yet, over the last few years, it had sat a bit ignored. But it was time for an upgrade and we were ready for a change that would be quick and impactful.
First on the list: a mirror and lighting upgrade. Our teeny-tiny bathroom needed to feel larger than it was. Enter Valentina’s genius idea – a tall, ceiling-reaching mirror. The sheer power of this change shocked us both! Complementing it were new sconces, two bulbs multiplied into four – talk about magic!
Artwork played its role too. We took it up a notch by introducing larger pieces, carefully hung horizontally. The result? Your gaze moves from one end to another, seamlessly gliding past the mirror and those dazzling lights. And just like that, our “airplane bathroom” feels more inviting and luxurious.
Accessories couldn’t be left behind. From soap dispensers to sculptural pieces and a marble container for guest essentials, every piece brought sophistication into the room.
Now, let’s talk doors. Without actually changing the door itself, we did a few simple upgrades. The old doorknob, a relic from 30 years back, was replaced by a sleek black lever. Paired with matching black hinges, the door’s aesthetic changed instantly.
And the final piece? Our upcoming project – a finishing touch to this mini makeover. The plan: a light switch and outlet upgrade. We’re upgrading everything to wifi paddle switches from Kasa. We love being able to control the lights from our phones plus control the amount of light, the color, and more!
