I am breathless… literally holding my breath, actually, as I think about the weekend ahead. A WHOLE WEEKEND!! What is it about those two whole days that feels so carefree? So decadent! So full of promise! It’s two whole days in which we can do ANYTHING WE WANT. Eek! I have an agenda for this one that is a mile long… as in, a stack of books I plan to read that put together would stretch for MILES!
I threw logic (and caution!) to the wind and stacked my coffee table FULL of books this week. Someone online tried to tell me I had too many books and I was “pshhhh!! WHATEVER!! UNTIL THEY HIT THE CEILING THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR MORE!!” (I didn’t actually say that but I was thinking it!)
My intention is to sit by the fire while it rains outside and enjoy these first few days of autumnal weather in a big fuzzy sweater and jeans. I fully intend on snuggling with Louis, the fur blanket, and any man or child who will join me!
We’ve been roasting apples after a trip to the apple orchard last weekend (the recipe is coming next week to the Living channel!) so I’m thinking that or even just more of them raw with my favorite peanut butter will be my sustenance… books and apples and a fire and a cozy blanket…. Ahhh.
Anyone else want to join me?
If you are looking for some inspirational reads, I have a variety in my stack at the moment. I love leafing through cookbooks and finding inspo for the coming week. I love the little snack recipes in The Art of Picnics Book and Poetry of Place by Bobby McAlpine is a book I go back to over and over. The architecture is ever inspiring!
I also treated myself to the lovely Botticelli Drawings book this week. I was lured in by the cover but it was the promise of “the rhythm of line” of this art filled book that has me longing to devour its content.
However you spend the weekend, I hope you find time to pamper yourself and soak up these first little glimpses into fall! Hugs to all! xxV
